Cattleya's Intro

Hello, I'm Cattleya. I added the "Background" section to give an overview of the origin and nature of library assistive technologies and also added "Google Translate" for those who speak a different language. I contributed to April's blog a print enlarging machine picture I took at Miramar College Library.

Background

The passing of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990 which "mandated that disabled individuals be accorded the same rights as persons without disabilities" has spearheaded the development of various devices as well as software and hardware products promoting computer accessibility and processes for choosing, finding, modifying, adapting, and applying them for people with disabilities such as those with visual, hearing, learning, cognitive, and mobility impairments, the deaf and mute, etc. to enable them to manage their disabilities thereby improving their task performance with greater ease and independence.
